lovely mushrooms!

Quick post here tonight. I got this awesome paper pad at Michael's last week. It's a Recollections 12 x 12- Habitat. The colors and textures in the paper are soooo pretty. Greens, tans, purples and browns, Flowers, ferns, mushrooms, dragonflies and butterflies. So here is my first card using the papers.

I used the sketch from Card Patterns #162, and just let the Patterned paper do the honors. I love the mushrooms and fern-fiddleheads on this paper-they are already "heat embossed" on the pad. I cut the piece to highlight the butterfly in the background. I mounted the piece on some SU Old Olive cardstock, then on Bazzil purple cardstock. I stamped a border on the purple with a border stamp set I have had since I first started stamping-I no longer have the package, so don't know what it is. I cut out one of the mushrooms from another sheet of the paper and mounted it with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on cream cardstock with ColorBox ColorQue-a green but I don't have the color name (first set I bought-didn't realize there were color labels in the package until  I bought another stack sometime later and discovered the labels. Someday I will have to investigate and see if I can figure out the colors). I used clear embossing powder and heat embossed the sentiment. I cut the mat for the sentiment from the S.U.O.O. cardstock with the smallest die in the Spellbinders Fleur dis Lis rectangles die set and attached it to the card with foam dots. The ribbon is a piece I salvaged from a gift I received for my birthday! I added 2 dragonfly brads and a Basic Grey green rhinestone to the little flower.
Enjoy!

Thinking of you

Hello again. Another post today. So, I did find my blog again-we'll see about tomorrow.
A former member of my Prayer Shawl Circle is going through a tough time, so wanted to make her a card for our group to sign and send to her.
I will enter this in the Pal  Paper Arts 133 sketch challenge, and also at Repeat Impressions Designers Choice Challenge DCC411, to use a bird or birds as the focal image on your creation.

I was at Michel's on Friday and found this cute rhinestone bird sticker. Now, I am a frugal crafter (I don't know why-I have tonnnns of stuff)-I usually don't use a whole sticker on one card-I'll try to get as much milage as possible out of them But this is so stinkin' cute I just had to use the whole thing. I put it on a piece of DP from the MME Lost and Found Market Street 6x6 pad and cut around it for the bird. Isn't he cute? I Used other pieces of the MME pad for the rest of the card, and some Bazzil (green) and DCWV (pink) cardstock. I ran the pink cs through the CB with Cuttlebug Cindy Lou embossing folder and sanded it to bring out the embossing. I cut some of the green cs with SU sweetest stem embosslit and slightly inked the edges. for the flowers I stamped the little flowers from Verve Blessings stamp set, cut around them and layered 3, 2 and 1. I shaped them slightly with a stylus and foam mat. I added flowersoft to the centers fo the flowers and the single leaves from the stems that I put under the bird. I used a piece of embroidered ribbon from my sewing stash that I have had for years-I made my daughter a dress that I used this on when she was in early elementary school-she's now in her 30s and a mom herself!
Hope you enjoy!

What did they do to my Blog?!!

Wow, when I tried to get into my blog yesterday major changes had taken place and it has taken me 2 days of monkeying around to figure it out. Hopefully this will work and I will be able to find it tomorrow, too:)
This first card I'm posting to day I will enter in the Create for Fun Color Challenge CR84FN52  and also over at My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch Challenge
I did not have any belated Birthday cards in my stash when I needed one last week, so my goal is to work on some of those, this being #1.
The color challenge was to use cream, tan and med. pink: The DP is Making Memories Noteworthy-Audrey and Mustard Moon-Newsprint. Cardstock is Recollections and Neenah Crest Solar White for the stamped image. I stamped the porch (Flourishes Stamp set 'Porch') with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored it with Copic markers and Pebbles chalks for the sky. The sentiment is from Verve 'Wish Big' set, stamped with Rich Cocoa. I stamped the flowers (Verve 'Great Friends') on the Audrey paper and cut them out free hand. I formed them using a stylus (Med ball end) and mat, shaping from the back side. I layered the 2 together and added a Copper Glitter dot (Recollections) to the center. The border is cut with an EK success scallop punch.
Enjoy! Leave a  comment, and if I can find my blog tomorrow, I'll be back!

Cleaning off my work table

I was cleaning up my work table this week and came across these 2 cards that I had started some time ago, but never finished.  Most of the elements were there, but I just needed to tweak them a bit. So here is how they turned out.

I'm entering this next one over at 'Crazy for Challenges C4C132- to have a button or buttons on your project.

Supplies Used:  Hot Off the Press Stamp N Punch stamp set; SU grey cardstock, Bazzil rust cardstock, Mullberry paper, Ribbon from MIchaels; button from stash; I believe the patterned cardstock is Basic Grey (I cut the edge with the info off the cardstock, but I can still see a little bit of the Logo-and I'm pretty sure it was Basic Grey-anyway, I love this paper!)

Supplies used:
Our Daily Bread Designs 'Sew Special' Stampset and rocking chair die; Verve Birthday blessings & Tiny Sweet Scallops dies; Copic Markers; Marvy flower punch, Gold border stickers, Recollections rhinestones; DCWV patterned cardstock, Recollections colored cardstock.

You're only a Kid Once

Wow, another birthday in my craft group. I'm having fun making these "old" cards:) This one today I will enter at Card Patterns for sketch #161.

The sketch:  Current Sketch

My card:
The DP is My Mind's Eye Street Market-love this double sided cardstock! I recently bought somemore of it on clearance at Michaels-I wouldn't want to run out! I stamped the image (from Inkadinkadoo mini stamp set) with Memento Rich Cocoa on Gina K white cardstock (such nice cardstock!). I added the birds from Close to My Heart "summer Breeze" stamped with Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored with Copic markers, adding in the sky and watter. I cut it out with Spellbinders Classic Circle dies and matted it, first with some green cardstock, then on a back mat cut with Spellbinders Renaissance hearts. Added some gold corner stickers and a gold sticker border.
For the inside of the card I did the rest of the saying on the computer as the stamped words were waaaaayyy to small-they got lost on the background! I cut the saying out with Spellbinders Big Scalloped Squares and added some of the DP behind it to match the front of the card.

Hope you like! Comments always welcome.

You Know You're Old When

Wow! What is going on. Saturday it was in the mid 70s here, Today we have snow-so far it isnot staying, but still!!!!!!!!!!! Snow?????? Oh, well, just another excuse to stay inside and stamp, Right?
So, here is a card I made for one of the gals in my craft group who has a birthday tomorrow.  I will enter it in  Color Throwdown CTD187 , to use Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, So saffron and Lavender lace (I came as close as I could with the colors.) I will also enter it in the Sweet Stop Sweet n' Sassy Sketch challenge #154, which was to use a sketch from past challenges. I choose to use the one listed on the blog-it just suited the card I wanted to make.

The Stamp set I used is from Gina K Designs-'You Know You're Old when'. I stamped it with MementoTuxedo Black Ink on Nenah Classic Solar Crest white and colored it with Copic Markers. The DPs:  Penny Black (yellow) and the purple prints I believe are Paper Pizzaz. (I've had them awhile. When I first started stamping I took all those packs apart and sorted them by color-DUMB! I have learned not to do that) Cardstock is SU chocolate chip, lavender and the bottom mat is also a SU green. The center strip is from my scrap bin. I ran that through the cuttlebug with CB embossing folder 'Birds n Swirls'. I cut the Sentiment out with Spellbinders labels and mounted it with foam dots. The focal image is also mounted with foam dots. I added some silver Smootch to the bumper and tires on the car, and some oval rhinestones for the head lights. The flower I made with a flower punch, punching many flowers from 2 DPs and layering them. I also used some on the inside of the card.

Fishers of Men-Thinking of You

Hello everyone, Hope your week is going well. Sun is still shining here, but it is cold! Frost covered everthing this morning. Have to keep reminding myself it is only April!
This card I made for the Challenge over at Repeat Impressions, which is a sketch challenge. Here is my card, the sketch is shown below.

I took a little twist on the sketch by using an oval and a circle, and turning the sketch on its side. The image stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs 'Fishers of Men' set, stamped on Neenah Classic Crest Solor White with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copic Markers. The sky is colored with Pebbles Chalks-Pastels.  I cut it out with Spellbinders Petite ovals lg, then cut out a mat of the brown by tracing around the die, and triming it a bit. The DP for the circle is Adorn It-Gone Fishing, and the plaid is from American Traditions Great Outdoors. I matted both on The Paper Company Hunter green cardstock. The sentiment is from OBDO Mini Tags 1, stamped in Rich Cocoa on white, and matted with the Hunter cardstock. I tied a piece of raffia around it.
Enjoy, I'm off to get ready to go to crafting tonight. Have to show off my stamping goodies that my niece gave me. A whole big tote full of stamps, papers and books. Who hoo! new toys!
