Moment in Time

Good morning blogland! Snowing and blowing here in Michigan! But we have had a week of above average temps so we can't complain-snow and cold is the norm here. And it will make the snowmobilers happy. And I can stay home and make cards, er, um, I mean clean house-I really need to do that.
Anyway, after a shopping excursion all day yesterday to Marquette to do my grocery shopping before the 'big' storm hit, I really needed to sit down and relax last evening, and this card is the results. I used the sketch from MOJO Monday #223,
and the Flourishes Release Week Challenge FLLCJANRW2-Ring in the new year with “Father Time” or “Baby New Year” – this challenge is a fight between new and old! To be in the running, simply use a card that showcases an image of time or one that showcases little baby new year i.e. a baby card. I choose to make a card dealing with time.

My card base is Bazzil cardstock. The Design Papers are from DCWV Whimsy Paper pad. The blue cardstock that my middle layers of paper are matted in is from DCWV Mariposa Cardstock pad-it's a really pretty shimmery paper. The white papers are Wasua Brite White. The clock and sentiment are from Close to My Heart stamp set Key Moments, stamped with Color box Peacock ink, the hands with Momento Tuxedo Black. I embossed the white rectangle with Craft Concepts 'Cottage Floral' embossing folder. I highlighted the raised design with White Pearl Smooch ink. The clock back is Cut with Spellbinders 'Ironworks Motif', and the backing for the sentiment is Spellbinders Scallop Circle set. I cut the bottom border on the middle layer with EK Success Scroll border punch. I had cut that piece with black first, but didn't like how that looked so searched for better paper and came up with the blue-so I filled in the scroll with the cut outs from the black one I had punched-really like how it makes that scroll stand out. I added some blue ribbon with a simple knot, a black brad to the center of the clock,  and some small pearls to the elements on the clock.  The Clock is mounted with SU dimensional dots and the sentiment with a thicker foam dot. I gently distressed the edges of  a couple of the layers. Hope U like! Please comment-I always like getting those comments.

Blessings

This is a card I made for the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club MFTWSC53 , which is a sketch challenge this time.

 Here is the sketch:

And here is my card:

For this card I used Co'ordinations Foundations in a blue and 'Mocha Divine' brown. I embossed the blue with the Cuttlebug folder 'Musical Flourish' , and the brown with the Sizzix folder 'Snocap". The DP is from Colorbok 'Flea Market' 8 x 8 paper pad. I picked up a bunch of used greeting cards somewhere, and the focal on this card is recyceled from one of those cards. The sentiment is from ODBD Mini Tags 2 stamp set that I just got, stamped with black ink on a scrap of Recollections Gold cardstock.  I am also entering this in the Repeat Impressions blog-The House that Stamps Built- Designer's Choice Challenge DCC14 to use the colors Blue and brown for your card.
This is a good NEPR card! I don't often make 'em like that!

Find Our Strength

It's been a couple weeks since I posted again. Busy time. Have most of my Christmas things put away. Need to wash some walls and get my everyday stuff back up- My goals for this week!

For this card I used some new things, and some things I have had for awhile but had not used yet. The DP is from a new DCWV Stack 'Whimsy'. The Focal is a stamp from ODBD - Sew Special. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic markers-mannnnny Copic markers. I cut the image with the Rocking chair Die from  ODBO. I've had the stamp set and die for awhile now and had not used it yet. The sentiment is I just recently bought, from 'Sincere Sentiments' stamp set by Stampendous. I used a Spellbinders Big Scallop Oval die to cut the panel to mount the rocking chair on. The flowers are Prima, and the brad is from SU. The little butterfly was laying on my table, and it just seemed like it was there for this card (probably been laying there for some time!).

Repeat Impressions Sketch D2811This card  will fit for several challenges this time. I will enter it in the Our Daily Bread Designs Stamping in time Challange SNTODBD51 , to use 2012 as your basis for the design. I have used 2 stamps, 0 ribbon, 1 flower, 2 Design papers.
I will also enter this in CR84FN45 (to use Med. Blue, Orange and Yellow. ); Crazy 4 Challenges C4C118-to use something new-new 'toys', new techniques, etc (new stamps sets and new die) and Repeat Impressions  What If Wednesday Sketch Challenge D2811 .
I really like how this turned out. Hope you like it, too. Please leave a comment.

Last of Christmas Cards!

Just posting a few of the Christmas cards I made. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I just had a few more cards that I made this past week, as well as some thank you cards I wanted to post. Not done for any challenges, but I sure had fun making them.

This first one is made with a Close to My Heart stamp set-'Snow Days". Sure do like these stamps. I stamped the house with memento Tuxedo Black on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers and cut it out. I then stamped the bridge twice on white cardstock & colored with copics. I stamped snowflakes on the sky with Versamark and SU Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I then smudged on some TH Weatherd wood for a winter sky. I added stickles to the snow and popped the house image up with SU dimensional foam dots. I then mounted the panel on a red card base.

For this card I used a stamp set I've had awhile, not sure the name of it. It's colored with Copics, added stickles for the star and decorations. Cut out with Spellbinders Classic Ovals, added a red background cut wiht Spellbinders big Scalloped ovals. The Paper is from a K & Co. Christmas mat pad, Red cardstock is Bazzil. The border is cut with Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accents, and I added some Stampendous Hallographic dots and dashes stikers to it. Snowflake is cut with SU Northern Frost strip die from red and shiny gold paper. Sentiment is gold stickers.

This is a very simple card made with white cardstock which I stamped the thank you on, then ran through the cuttlebug with a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder. The focal is a Penny Black stiker mounted first on a scrap of green, cut out around the sticker, and then mounted that on a red scrap, and I distressed the edges of the red panel. The snowflake is cut with SU Northern Frost strip die from green scrap and added a white glitter dome on top.

This one I made with a Darcie stamp set, Snowman Wishes (I have had the set for a couple of years and never used it. I have no idea where I even got it). I stamped it twice (mainly because when I went to color it the first time, I messed it up). Stamped with Momento TB, colored with Copics. The hat is a seperate stamp, so when I colored that and cut it out and put it on, I decided it needed some of the other pieces like that, too. So I colored the bird and mug from the piece I messed up, cut them out and mounted them with pop-up dots. The mug a coated with versamark and clear embossed it. I added stickles to the snow and snowflakes. On the card base I stamped the HNY from the set with Versa Magic Turquoise Gem ink, and then ran the front through the cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing folder. Turned out so cute!

This one is made with the a Holly embossing folder which I then added chalk to the raised leaves and berries. The ornament & sentiment is a Justrite stamp colored with copics, embossed with clear powder, and hand cut out. I added a rhinestone to the center. The tags are cut with my Cricut-yeah, I used my cricut-gotta make more use of that thing! The snowflakes are again using the SU snowflake die-love those snowflakes. I added a border of gold cut wiht a border punch. Green DP is K & Co.

This was a very simple card-just looks like a lot of work-teehee! The paper is from a DCWV winter stack that I got at Micheals last year. The focal is cut from one of the pieces of that paper, mounted on salmony pink Bazzil cardstock. the tag is made with SU small & Large tag punch.  The sentiment is from a HOTP mixed messages set stamped with Memento Lady bug. Border is a scrap I had in my stack. I added stickles to the snowflakes, mounted the tag with a brad, added a star to the middle tree. Mounted on a piece of the pink cardstock and added to a white card base. It's soo pretty for being so simple to make.

Now I'm off to clean my crafting space-looks like a cyclone went through there-and I'm not kidding. Needs serious re-organizing. Which is just not my thing.
Hope you enjoy my creations. Hopefully in the new year I will post more often, and not all at one time. Ta ta for now!

Puttin on the Ritz

This card was for the Paper Pal Arts Challenge (Puttin' on the Ritz), which I missed by 1/2 hour. It seems when these challenges end at noon, I always miss the deadline.
Anyway, here is the card:

The challenge was Puttin' on the Ritz - which to me meant clean and sophisticated, with a little glimmer. I used an old card  I had received at one time and had cut apart to be reused. The base is some Bazzil cardstock. The next layer I cut from the re-purposed card and rounded opposite corners with a corner rounder. I mounted the focal image on some dark purple Bazzil cardstock. I added some glimmer with a Versamark pen and SU Iridescent Ice embossing powder. I added a border strip cut from the dark purple with a border punch. The sentiment is from SU teeny tiny wishes, stamped with versamark and used amethyst embossing powder and heat set. I added some purple rhinestones to finish it off. It really is quite 'Ritzy'.

Here Comes Santa

.
This card is for 2 challenges- Crazy 4 Challenges C4C117 (to have Santa on it) and the My Favorite things Wednesday Stamp Club MFTWSC49. But I think I missed the deadline for for the MFT. However I will enter it in C4C challenge.

I began with running the card base through the Cuttlebug with a snowflake folder. I turned the sketch sideways. The next layer is a K&Co. border sticker from teh Elizabeth Brownd line. Layer 3 is DP from 3BIAR-Peppermint stick, mounted on some green Bazzil Cardstock. I stamped the Santa (Rubber Stampede) with Memento Lady Bug Red, and colored him with Copic markers. I added some silver to the snowflakes and his glasses with Versamark pen and Stampendous Detail Silver embossing powder, and heat set. I then used the Versamark pen and SU iridescent Ice embossing powder for his beard and hat, and on the snowflakes on the base card. . I cut the snowflakes out of green and white scraps with the SU Northern Frost snowflake die. The setiment is a silver sticker. Added a few red rhinestones, and he's done.
